Blindly Trusting Someone to Build Your Software Is Suicide

Development Firms And CTOs-That-Code Market Themselves As End-to-End Solutions… But, The Truth Is That They Are Anything But

Someone has to look over the shoulders of your software developers from day one.

If you don’t, you won’t know…

  1. If they are working hard
  2. If they are building the right features
  3. If someone can pick up where they leave off

Here’s a personal experience that illustrates the dangers of working with software developers without oversight: How Software Developers Hoodwinked A Founder Out of $80,000 – Don’t let this happen to you!

The solution is simple:

Don’t Get Me Wrong, I’m A Huge Fan Of Agencies And One-Man-Bands… But They Are Only Part Of The Solution

Would you ever hand a blank check to a stranger and say, “go ahead, make this out for however much you’d like”? Of course not!

Yet, non-technical leaders do this every single day.

I get it – really, I do. Building technology is complex, confusing and intimidating. You just want to work with someone you trust and ask them to do right by you.

But, let’s face it… the people you hire have two competing interests:

Yours, and theirs –

Often, software developers are biased towards solutions they know best or increase their billable hours. And they simply don’t have the perspective needed to design effective products for your market

… which is why you need an independent parties to review their choices.

“$3,000 might be too much, or too little, for you – but the approach always remains the same.”

The $3k Rule

Everyone you hire has competing interests. That’s why you need to hire someone to check and balance everyone you spend a significant amount of money with.

I’ve learned over the years that my tipping point is $3,000.

I typically go looking for an expert who I can hire with a couple hundred bucks whenever I’m about to spend $3k with someone else… regardless if I’m working with an engineer, a marketer, a financier, or an artist.

And, when I start to think I’m going to pay an expert $3k, I go looking for someone else with even more experience to keep my first coach in check. And on it goes.

$3,000 might be too much, or too little, for you – but the approach always remains the same.

CURIOUS HOW I CAN HELP YOU?

I can keep your software developers in check and help you build the right products the first time, for as little as $75/mo.

I also have an army of product managers, project managers, and architects available to help – none of whom will code for you

…which allows us to be the independent party that keeps your software developers on track.
